I had a fascinating conversation with a very interesting, knowledgeable gentleman yesterday : that bred the lovely Wilf!!! I’ve been trying to get in touch with him for about a month … Wilf has very smart breeding on the dam side; and I always maintained that I felt he should have smart breeding on both sides- he wasn’t just a mistake! … Turns out I was right!! The Sire was ‘a Colt’ this chap bred himself- (unrecorded with IHB hence unrecorded, died last year age 23) by Golden Servant- Kings Servant- King of Diamond. Out of a TB mare by Regal Record- Royal Record. So, he’s got all the great Irish names in his lines: Clover Hill, Powerswood Purple, King of Diamonds; as well as lots of great TB blood: Highland Flight, Regal Sting and the above. He has some very high flying siblings and family, including a 4* horse in America! I knew he had more blood in his pedigree than there is written down… And now I know why I think he’ll go through the grades… Advanced seems more realistic when I know how much TB he actually has!!! He loved hearing how successful Wilf is proving to be, he said ‘I thought he’d be more than a hunter when I sold him’… Too right!! ? ???
