Whoever said working with horses provided the full rollercoaster of emotions wasn’t wrong! Having taken Smokie to Richmond for a fun run, he banged a knee on a fence, which left us a little vulnerable for our Chatsworth prep!!
My wonderful back up team- my guys in the yard for the full works of therapy we have to offer here, Ibby Macpherson for a quick Spa and Antonia Bealby at North Lodge Equine who has had Smokie on his first stayaway without me since he was a 4 year old! He’s been spa’d 2 or 3 times a day, to take the swelling completely out of his knee, and I can’t believe the job it’s done!!! …And today, he was invited to the 2* European team, (particularly as I don’t think Foxy is ready to be pushed…) he LOVED being lead horse, I could almost feel him smiling as he led ‘his’ team around the team test!!
I’m nearly home from this great tune up pre-Chatsworth, to be sent a picture from my wonderful apprentice Shannon, who didn’t want to do her BHS training in the classroom, so we’ve done it all in the lorry en route to/ from events… to say she not only Passed, nor got a Merit, but she BOSSED it and got a DISTINCTION!!! I could burst with pride, but I’ve always said this one’s a good’un! ?
Just back to the yard to turn around for another early doors training session in the morning… no rest for the wicked… !!
