Shadow

Smokie seems to have a rare ability to put and keep a smile on my face every time I sit on him! I spotted him on the same journey to Ireland that I found his ‘brother’ Pete; both were 4 year-olds. Since then, he has gone from strength to strength. He was invited to join the World Class Pathway following very consistent runs at Intermediate and 1* as a 6 year old, and is now proving that they spotted him well!! In the 11 years Smokie has been my mainstay, he has competed in seven FEI 4* events, clear in all but 2 where we didn’t finish, just fell foul of the old camera/ flag rules! He’s competing double clears at 1.40m BS, and Fieldmastering for the Quorn. Who could even DREAM of having such a wonderful partner!?!

Lissyegan Junior Guy “Pete”

My little Tiger in a Tuxedo… What can I say apart from: another VERY special partner!!! Pete has been double clear round 4* tracks, and is possibly even more talented than his ‘big brother’ Smokie… but his diminutive size makes him chalk and cheese between the pair of them!! Pete has had successes at 1.35m BS, and is currently partnering with Fiona in another avenue she always wanted to pursue- PSG Dressage! He’s still enjoying his hunting, and will be such a useful addition to the Fieldmastering family when Fiona takes up her new MFH role this coming season!!

Annestown Capitalism “Cappie”

Cappie is the next longest standing FDE superstar, who she found in Ireland yard an unbacked 4 year old. He is another BFG, so has been on a slow burner taking every step as he’s ready for it. He’s a horse with massive movement, unreal power and scope, but the most delicate brain! He’s destined for 5* if his body and his brain can get there at the same time!!!

Karavola aka “Hendricks”

Hendricks was Fionas Christmas present to herself… and what arrived as a super raw 4 year old has proven he’s talented enough to burn himself a place in his FDE future! As a 7 year old he completed a couple of 3*’s competitively, but since Osberton, he’s had a few jiggly management issues the team are trying to get their heads around to prepare for his next press towards 4*s and beyond!!

Because Hendricks is such a classy talented lad, Fiona has got a small group of owners that are involved with his journey! He really is going to be one to watch- having jumped Fox and  1.30 tracks as a 6 / 7 year old- he has all the ability for the big B’s!!

Chevalian Fifa “Mowgli”

Fiona bought Mowgli from a photograph as a feral 4 year old off a hillside near Wales! She fell in love with the model of him and the breeding… and has since fallen in love with everything else about him!

Last season Mowgli completed double clear at 3*, and has stepped up to jump double clears at 1.30s BS. Time will tell whether he will be a 5* horse, but certainly has 4* in his eyesight, and is just THE most beautiful gentleman to ride in every sphere.

Summertime Rhapsody “Khan”

Who does this remind you of?!!!

You got it, isn’t he the Book-End copy of his big brother Mowgli?!! Even down to their feel and the progression of training!!

I bought Khan as a rising 4 year old, by the lovely Royaldik, he is following exactly the same pathway his big brother did!! They are the same gorgeously rideable gentleman, and their technique has followed the same pathways as they become more strong and educated.
As a 5 year old Khan won and was well placed in U/a 100s, and he is already entered up Novice!!

Hawthornestud Blood Money “Neville”

Neville is the new kid on the block- figuratively! He came down to me as a sales livery, and I simply fell in love with him!!!
Since Neville has been with us, he’s done his first ODE and won his first Discovery BS… he’s one I have high hopes for if I can keep hold of him long enough!!

Wineport Mr Hector “Heckle”

Heckle joined the team as a 6 year old who had done a couple of Novice events with exceptional dressage scores!! We’ve been playing about in the background doing a season of unaffiliateds up through Novice- and he’s now jumping double clears round 1.30s BS.

I think it’s time to decide whether he’s staying and step up to Intermediate- or let him go to do it with someone else… but if he doesn’t at least go 4* with someone I’ll eat my hat!!!

Tadrahag Gold Imperium “Rakki”

Rakki stepped up to Novice at the end of last season, and I’m hoping to aim him towards the 7 yr old champs in 2023. He’s got a V8 engine that has got some serious gears to play with!! I can’t wait to get my teeth into affiliating him this year!!

Carrigfoyle Clovers Rest “London”

London has been so much fun to produce to this stage! She’s jumping round Foxhunters tracks BS, and has started 2023 by cruising round an Intermediate training event… I’m sitting on the fence about producing her on for another season before selling… but she is SUCH a genius to a fence, she’d do all of this with a Jr/ YR…

    Jess Storey
    Yard Manager/ Competition Groom

Jess joined the team as a trainee back in 2020! Apart from a very short stint spreading her wings, she quickly decided that we really were the family she wanted to be a part of!! I hope Jess will be my Jackie Potts, as she treats the whole team as her own family, and keeps the cogs turning smoothly- even during our tough times!!

    Bryonie Ellis
    Apprentice

Bryonie is our wonderful Apprentice, and despite her diminutive size, she is definitely mighty!! She shows such commitment to the team and is a such wonderful and critical part of our family.

    Monica Leggett

Monica is the newest member of FDE, and is proving to be a great help in every aspect of our yard life. Her wonderful positive attitude; her capability in the yard and on a horse is a very welcome addition to the FDE family!!
